A slower
kind of seeing.

Naruhako literally means ‘Becoming Box’ in Japanese. The idea came from an image appearing in the dark room, developing like magic. Reflected light off a face, frozen in silver — it reminded me of Schrödinger’s box, where something can exist in all states until it is observed. I like to think that there are infinite possibilities emanating from our bodies. It is only when the silver is developed, and we see the contrast in the photograph, that we witness ourselves. The picture, complete.

The result is not a snapshot but a portrait: something that holds the body, the emotions in that space, the stillness of a moment, the texture of a face seen without haste.
